C-Limiter

The C-Limiter does only one thing: perfect limiting. If the average level of your audio-signal is too low you can also compress it. This Limiter / Compresor is quite good for brick-wall limiting. You can use it for any purposes where the dynamics of a signal must be either compressed, limited or both.

On a ”12 o´clock”-position the Compressor is bypassed and the signals dynamics keep 1:1. Turning this knob increases the compression ratio to a maximum amount of 8:1.

 

With the Gain-Knob you can adjust the Output-Level to a desired gain. This defines the exact highest possible limit of the output. You can enter exact values from the context-menu. With velocity you can then adjust how fast the limiter ”grips” at the signal and starts working (1 to 100ms).

In some cases digital hard- and software will produce clippings when dealing with levels which are near 0dB. Instead of normalising your material to 0dB please use exactly –0.1 dB. This will avoid digital clippings that can occur due to wrong mathematical roundings in other digital domains. Take this into account when mastering CDs or normalising audio material. Especially for broadcasting pruposes.
